  23. All too frequently, if you are like me, you will be sitting at 
  24. your computer and want a quick piece of information. You have to 
  25. break your train of thought, find the book or document containing 
  26. the information you require, look it up, and then go back to the 
  27. computer and pick up where you left off. Even if you have 
  28. SideKick or SCOUT installed, it can be a nuisance getting at the 
  29. information you require (assuming it's somewhere on your hard 
  30. disk).

  32. And most of the time (again, if you are like me) the information 
  33. you need amounts to only a few lines of text which could readily 
  34. be identified by a keyword.

  36.                     ReadyRef MEETS THIS NEED!
  37.  
  38. ReadyRef is a program which can be installed as a resident 
  39. program (TSR) or can be run in non-resident mode, runnable from 
  40. the DOS prompt. It provides a suite of up to 14 options. Three of 
  41. these, an ASCII table, a calendar, and a date calculator, are 
  42. fixed. The remaining eleven (one of which is pre-installed, and 
  43. provides a summary of DOS commands) are completely under user 
  44. control. All that you need to do to install your own option is to 
  45. build a data file according to a few easy rules, and then run a 
  46. simple configuration/installation program.

  48. ReadyRef even has the ability to optionally perform direct access 
  49. retrieval on your text files when doing a keyword search, thus 
  50. effectively removing any feasibility limits on the length of a 
  51. text file.

  56. DISTRIBUTED FILES:

  58. The files contained in the distribution set are:

  60.           RR.EXE         The executable ReadyRef file
  61.           RR.OVR              and its overlay file.
  62.           RRCONFIG.EXE   The configuration program for ReadyRef, 
  63.                          which allows you to select a color set 
  64.                          to be used, and configures your options.
  65.           RRINDEX.EXE    The text file indexing program for 
  66.                          ReadyRef. Processing long text files 
  67.                          with RRINDEX will permit direct access 
  68.                          of the file in keyword searching.
  69.           READ.ME        This file
  70.           READYREF.UPD   The revision/update history of ReadyRef.
  71.           READYREF.DOC   The documentation file for ReadyRef. 
  72.                          Contains complete installation and 
  73.                          operating information, plus registration 
  74.                          information and forms.
  75.           DOSCMD.SUM     A text file summarizing commonly used 
  76.                          DOS commands, used by the pre-installed 
  77.                          "DOS commands" option.
  78.           AREACODE.SUM   A summary of telephone area codes by 
  79.                          area code and state.
  80.           FONEBOOK.TXT   A specimen ReadyRef-compatible phone 
  81.                          book.
  82.           POSTAGE.SUM    A summary of U.S. domestic postal rates.
  83.           RR.CFG         A configuration file which installs 
  84.                          AREACODES.SUM, FONEBOOK.TXT, and 
  85.                          POSTAGE.SUM (in addition to DOSCMD.SUM).
  86.           ZAP.CFG        A configuration file which de-installs 
  87.                          all user-definable options with the 
  88.                          exception of "DOS commands".
